• The origin of the Jordaans can be traced back to 970AD.
• Originally Jourdan, derived from Jourdain, the French name for the river Jordan in the Palestine. After the crusades it became a popular first name in France and many surnames were derived from that.
• There are already over 33 300 Jordaan names in the genealogical register.
• This is the ideal opportunity to establish a Jordaan family association. Such an association will introduce contact between the Jordaans, will organize functions and publish a newsletter.
